Peers may work in a variety of settings including OASAS outpatient programs under the supervision of a qualified healthcare professional. They may also find work in hospital emergency departments and various home and community-based service settings as they become available across the state.
Certified peers also provide support in court rooms for individuals working through criminal justice matters, or accompany individuals to doctors appointments if needed. This training will provide you the skills that you need to succeed providing peer led services for individual struggling with Substance Use Disorders or for individuals already in the Recovery Process.

The Recovery Coach/Peer Advocate is a comprehensive 5 day training that will arm you with the strength-based strategies to support persons in or seeking recovery from alcohol and other drugs. Similar to life and business coaching, Recovery Coaching or Peer Advocates (also known as peer mentoring) is a type of partnership where the person in or seeking recovery self directs his/her recovery while the coach provides expertise in supporting successful change.
16 Hour Peer Ethics is require for your Peer Advocate Application Process. This 2 day workshop will introduce the standard principles that guide peers in order to provide adequate and appropriate services .

This 6 hour workshop provides a comprehensive overview of Medication Assisted Treatment (MATS) and (MARS ) Medication Assisted Recovery Services which is the use of medications, in combination with behavioral therapies, to treat substance use disorders. MAT is primarily used for the treatment of addiction to opioids such as heroin and prescription pain relievers that contain opiates. The prescribed medication operates to normalize brain chemistry, block the euphoric effects of alcohol and opioids, relieve physiological cravings, and normalize body functions without the negative effects of the abused drug.This workshop will discuss the neurobiology of addiction. How substance use disorders impact the brain and how MAT's works. Participants will obtain an overview of the different types of medications used in the treatment of opioid, nicotine and prescription drugs. Participants will understand the benefits of MATS and the management of Recovery.

This class is required for CARC and CRPA certification it can also be used for renewals . Medication Assisted Treatment Services and Medication Assisted Recovery Services is a 6 hour class that will discuss the different and various medications used to obtain and or sustain recovery. It will dispel the Myths that have circulated our field for years.

The Certified Recovery Peer Advocate-Family is a new specialization under the existing CRPA –It affords existing Certified Recovery Peer Advocates (CRPA) an additional opportunity to offer specialized family peer support.
6 hour Class can be used for CRPA & CARC & CASAC Renewals this course will delineate the stages of recovery in terms of early, middle, and susain recovery or the later stages,Understanding that the process begins upon the individuals choice to seek recovery. The content will explore the stages in relationship to the dimensions that support recovery such as an increase in health or managing ones disease or symptoms and making informed, healthy choices that support physical and emotional well being.
