Connie Pacheco is the Founder, President, and CEO of Recoveries R US, LLC, a New York-based education and workforce development organization preparing counselors, peer professionals, and recovery advocates to serve individuals, families, and communities impacted by substance use.
Born in Puerto Rico and raised in the South Bronx, Connie began her professional journey in 1987 after completing a three-year residential treatment program. Her lived experience became the foundation for nearly four decades of service, education, advocacy, and leadership in the substance use and recovery field.
Connie is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor-Master (CASAC-M), Certified Addiction Recovery Coach (CARC), Certified Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA), and Family Development Credential (FDC) professional. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Services and a Master's Degree in Social Work, earned a Family Development Leadership Credential from Cornell University, and pursued graduate studies in Executive Business Administration.
Before founding Recoveries R US in 2013, Connie worked in leading New York City behavioral health and human-service programs and built an extensive career as a counselor, educator, and trainer. Under her leadership, Recoveries R US provides CASAC, CRPA/CARC and peer professional training, continuing education, mentorship, workforce development, and employment support, creating pathways from education and credentialing to meaningful careers.
Connie has been honored three times by Schneps Media, receiving the 2024 Gay City News Impact Award and recognition on the 2025 Bronx Power List and 2025 Manhattan Power List. In September 2025, Manhattan Borough President Mark Levine proclaimed September 19 “Connie Pacheco Day” in recognition of her service and community impact.
A longtime advocate for underserved and LGBTQ+ communities, Connie has coordinated the Bronx LGBT Expo, been featured in the White Shirt Project, hosted the Recoveries R US Talk Show, and appeared in media and community forums. She is also a public speaker, certified Women's Safety Instructor, mixed martial artist, and has served as a catechist.
Today, Connie continues to use her lived experience, education, and leadership to develop the next generation of counselors, peer professionals, recovery advocates, and community leaders—demonstrating through her own journey that CHANGE is possible.
